A Birthday Treat from Grandaisy Bakery

A few years ago, to celebrate my birthday, I starting sharing with you our
Torta de Capas, a special cake my grandmother used to make for me when I was growing up. It consists of crispy dough layers held together by creamy dulce de leche and scrumptious flakes of coconut. On a cold winter's day it makes for an unforgettable treat.

This year as part of our month-long Be Good To Your Heart campaign (inspired by, of course, Valentine's Day), we will be making the Torta de Capas with spelt flour. Spelt is an ancient grain with a high protein content and high water solubility, so its nutrients are easily absorbed by the body. It is an excellent source of fiber and has a large amount of B-complex vitamins. It also tastes great!

But you don't have to take my word for it. Try it yourself! It's available every day until the end of February at any of our three locations for $4 a slice.

I hope you enjoy our Torta de Capas and make it part of your annual tradition.
